Inverewe gardens in springtime , before the decidous trees put on weighty leaf, is lush with floriferous woodland vegetation . Great swathes of trilliums, erythroniums, pompoms of rhododendron blooms replace fading camellias and stands of winter hellebores. Shuttelcock ferns unfurl fresh lime foliage, and the giant hands of gunnera unclaw and begin to span.By damp streams and still ponds there's a plethora of moisture loving plants, notably skunk cabbages in yellow and more uncommonly, white varieites.
besides the woodland plants are stirring in the walled kitchen garden, rhubarb perhaps the first edible to show.
This is a coastal garden, warmed by the gulf stream, it harbours a wealth of unusual and often enormous plants and trees. From the garden are stunning sea views and breathtaking vistas over to the encircling hills.
