There's nothing more exciting than buying a real tree at Christmas time. Christmas tree farm grow a good range of traditional Christmas trees, Nordman pine, spruce, fir each with their own personality. But what's really exciting is visiting when they are felling the trees ready for sale. The freshly cut trees are hauled back to the farm by horse power- literally. The majestic shire horse Ambassador and his owner Stephen, spend several days each December bringing the trees in from the farms forest. Ambassador's step, albeit not light, does less damage than tractors would, avoiding heavy compacting of the soil which will be re stocked with new trees in the future.
